PM assures Hambantota will not be a Chinese navy base

Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today?assured that the Hambantota port will not be made a Chinese navy base.

The Prime Minister said this while speaking to NDTV on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos.

He said that India was aware of the construction of the Hambantota port when the former Government was in office.

“Chinese Navy ships will not be based there,” he said.

The Prime Minister said that India or any country can also invest on the Hambantota port.
