Several dengue breeding grounds were identified in the Western Province this week, including in Colombo, the Ministry of Health said.
According to the Ministry of Health, a dengue eradication drive was conducted this week following concerns dengue was spreading in the?Western Province following the heavy rain experienced in the country over the past few weeks.
The Health Ministry said that officers inspected locations in Colombo, Kalutara and Gampaha.
Following the inspection conducted over a three day period, notice was issued on 3084 people while cases were filed on 521 others for having dengue breeding grounds.
Over 425 officers were involved in the dengue?eradication drive in the Western Province, the Ministry of Health added. (Colombo Gazette)
