Court finds Wasim Thajudeen death suspicious

The Colombo Additional Magistrates’ Court today found that there was suspicion over the death of National rugby player Wasim Thajudeen.

Colombo Additional Magistrate Nishantha Peiris said that the reports compiled on Thajudeen’s?death will be considered before a final ruling is given.

Thajudeen died on May 17, 2012 in Kirulapone when his car crashed into a wall.?According to police reports at the time, the rugby player was driving home after attending a party when he lost control of the car and crashed into a wall on Park Road. The car had exploded instantly and burnt the victim.

However suspicions arose later after it was reported that there could have been a political connection in?the death of Thajudeen. (Colombo Gazette)

Eighteen suspects arrested for assaulting cops in Moratuwa

Eighteen suspects have been arrested for assaulting three policemen in the Moratuwa area. The Police said that the suspects had allegedly assaulted the policemen and also obstructed their duties. As a result 18 suspects who were linked to the incident were arrested. Further investigations are underway. (Colombo Gazette)
