Salley sees no difference between Praba and Rohana

26 Nov, 2015

Muslim Tamil National Alliance leader?Azath Salley says slain LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabakaran and former Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP) leader Rohana Wijeweera are no different and if?Wijeweera’s death can be commemorated in Sri Lanka then so should?Prabakaran’s death.

Speaking at a media briefing today,?Azath Salley said that the Government must allow families in the North to commemorate those killed during the war, even if they are LTTE members.

He said that of the Government is going to block such events then it must not allow commemoration events for?Rohana Wijeweera as he was also accused of killing several innocent people.

The police had yesterday?warned that legal action will be taken against anyone holding public events in support of the LTTE.

Police spokesman ASP Ruwan Gunasekera said that since the LTTE is still a banned outfit in Sri Lanka, public events cannot be held in support of its leaders or the organisation.

Northern Provincial Council (NPC) member M.K. Sivajilingham had said earlier that the public have been urged to commemorate slain LTTE members on Friday to mark the LTTE heroes? week.

He said that anyone has a right to commemorate those killed during the war even if they are LTTE members. (Colombo Gazette)
