The joint opposition today raised its concerns with President Maithripala Sirisena about the budget presented to Parliament for the year 2016.
United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) member of Parliament and joint opposition member Bandula Gunawardena said that some of the joint opposition members who attended a meeting with the President today, noted that the budget was misleading the President.
Gunawardena said that the President was told that for the first time in history, the budget was also misleading the public and Parliament.
He said the Government had given the President and the public an impression that the budget will be revolutionary.
However he says the budget failed to keep the promises made before it was presented to Parliament by Finance Minister Ravi Karunanayake last week. (Colombo Gazette)
