Piyankara Jayaratne questioned by Presidential Commission

Former Minister of Civil Aviation?Piyankara Jayaratne was questioned by the Presidential Commission investigating large scale fraud today.

He was questioned over the alleged misuse of the catering service on Sri Lanka’s National airline, Srilankan Airlines, when he was the Minister in charge.

A complaint had been received at the?Presidential Commission Investigating Large Scale Corruption and Fraud over the alleged use of Srilankan Catering Services for private functions of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and his family.

The Commission was also to record a statement from the former Chairman of Srilankan Airlines?Nishantha Wickramasinghe. (Colombo Gazette)

Escaped COVID-19 inmate arrested by Army

A COVID-19 positive inmate, who had escaped from the Infectious Diseases Hospital (IDH) this morning has been arrested. The wanted drug addict is reported to have been arrested near the Outpatient Department Treatment Unit (OPD) of the Colombo National Hospital.
