The Mahajana Eksath Peramuna says it is disappointed over the actions of Speaker Karu Jayasuriya in Parliament.
MEP leader Dinesh Gunawardena said that the Speaker has so far failed to ensure discipline is maintained in the House.
He said that the Speaker has turned a deaf ear to the unparliamentarily language used in Parliament, particularly by Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
The opposition Parliamentarian noted that former Speakers had often taken measures to protect the culture of Parliament.
However, the MP says, now the Prime Minister and a few others in the Parliament, behave like dictators and use harsh language on opposition MPs.
He urged the Speaker to take immediate action to arrest the situation, failing which the opposition will take matters into their own hands. (Colombo Gazette)
