German Foreign Minister Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier will visit Sri Lanka on Tuesday, 22 September, 2015, the German Embassy in Colombo said.
During his visit Minister Steinmeier will meet President Maithripala Sirisena, Prime Minister Ranil Wickrememsinghe, Foreign Minister Mangala Samaraweera and Leader of the Opposition R. Sampanthan.
Minister Steinmeier will also travel to Kilinochchi to inspect the Sri Lankan-German Training Institute, currently under construction and scheduled to be opened in May 2016. He will participate in a tree planting ceremony.
This is the first visit by a German Foreign Minister to Sri Lanka since 2004. (Colombo Gazette)
