Over 100 mm of rain expected in some areas

The department of meteorology expects?100 mm of rain in some parts of the country today.

The department said that the possibility for heavy rain in the southwestern parts and strong winds over the island and neighboring sea areas are still high.

Showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces. Showers may extend to the North western province.

Thundershowers may develop at a few places in the Eastern and Uva provinces after 4.00 pm.

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. The public have been advised to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
