Navy detains 22 Indian fishermen in Sri Lankan waters

The Sri Lanka Navy and Coast Guard seized two trawlers and detained 22 Indian fishermen who were poaching in Sri Lankan waters off Kudiramalei Point, south of Mannar. According to the Navy, the Northwestern Naval Command had, on Monday, spotted a cluster of Indian trawlers engaging in illegal fishing in Sri Lankan waters. SLPP to announce its presidential candidate on Wednesday

The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) will announce its presidential candidate on Wednesday, SLPP General Secretary Sagara Kariyawasam said. He said that the announcement will most likely be made at the SLPP party headquarters. Namal resigns from international relations Sectoral Oversight Committee

MP Namal Rajapaksa resigned from the Sectoral Oversight Committee on International Relations, Parliament was informed. Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardhane said that a vacancy had been created in the committee as MP Namal Rajapaksa had resigned. Accordingly, the Speaker said that SLPP MP Premanath C.
