The National Freedom Front (NFF), a coalition partner of the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA), today raised concerns over the state of National security.
NFF spokesman Mohammed Muzammil claimed?that the appointment of Tamil National Alliance (TNA) leader R. Sampanthan as the opposition leader, removing the Omanthai security post and releasing of several former LTTE cadres was a threat to National security.
He also accused President Maithripala Sirisena of giving key?posts in Parliament to?those who supported him at the last Presidential election.
Muzammil said that Sirisena had supported Ranil Wickremesinghe to be Prime Minister, Sampanthan to be opposition leader and JVP leader Anura Kumara Dissanayake to be chief opposition whip since they had supported him during the “silent revolution” in January.
He claimed that the new political culture introduced by the Government has resulted in opposition voices in Parliament being silenced. (Colombo Gazette)
