Cabraal, Udaya and Sashi questioned by police

Former Central Bank Governor Ajith Nivard Cabraal, United People Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Parliamentarian elect Udaya Gammanpila and Sashi Weerawansa, the wife of former Minister Wimal Weerawansa, were questioned by the police today.

Cabraal had made a statement to the police Financial Crimes Investigations Division (FCID) over alleged fraud said to have been committed during the acquisition of a private firm by the Urban Development Authority (UDA).

Separably, Sashi Weerawansa was also questioned by the FCID over her assets while?Gammanpila was questioned by the Special Police Investigations Unit.

The investigations on the former Government members and their relatives comes just hours after the United National Party (UNP) won the Parliamentary elections.

The UNP had promised to continue with investigations over alleged fraud which was launched following the January 8 Presidential election. (Colombo Gazette)
