Ranil tops Colombo with over 500,000 votes

RanilUnited National Party (UNP) leader and Prime Minister designate Ranil Wickremesinghe has topped the Colombo preferential votes list at the 2015 Parliamentary election, with 500,566 votes.

Wickremesinghe secured more votes than former President Mahinda Rajapaksa who had had received 423,529 votes in the Kurunegala District.

National Freedom Front leader Wimal Weerawansa got 313, 801 votes, the most number of votes for the United People’s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) from Colombo.

Sujeewa Senasinghe is second in the preferential list in Colombo with 117,049 votes while Harsha de Silva is third with 114,148 votes and Ravi Karunanayake fourth with 111,394 votes.

Others elected from Colombo via the UNP are Champika Ranawaka, S.M. Marikkar, Mujibur Rahman, Eran Wickremeratne, Wijeydasa Rajapaksa, Hirunika Premachandra and Mano Ganeshan. (Colombo Gazette)

  1. All okay but sad that Rosy missed the Parliament. But, she need not worry as she can perform more better if a dynamic, responsible position is given to her.
    Be cool as how you are and you are sure of a better opportunity by the party no doubt !!!.
