ITAK sweeps Jaffna District and secures 5 seats

JaffnaThe Illangai Thamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) won 69.12 % of the votes in the Jaffna district at the 2015 Parliamentary election and secured 5 seats.

ITAK, which is part of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) got 207,577 votes while the EPDP got just 30,232 and is second with just one seat.

The United National Party (UNP) got 20,025 and secured one seat. Former LTTE cadres who contested as an independent group could not win any seats.

  1. Only 61.5% vote of which 7.8% is rejected. Among all districts, voter apathy is strongest in Jaffna.
    What is there for the TNA to celebrate, especially after the boast about the NPC results 2 years ago.
    The rivals are pathetic and that is what keeps the TNA going.,
