The United People?s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) today?sought clarity on the proposal of the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG) to devolve powers to the provinces.
UNF member and Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) General Secretary Anura Priyadharshana Yapa said that it was not clear as to what extent powers will be devolved to the provinces.
He also asked if the UNFGG is agreeable to devolve land and police powers to the provinces.
Yapa also sought clarity on the UNFGG stand over the comments made by the Tamil National Alliance that it will not have talks with the Government unless there is an agreement on a federal solution.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe had said recently that the United National Party will devolve powers to the provinces within a united Sri Lanka.
The UNP had however rejected the TNA proposal for a federal solution. (Colombo Gazette)
