UPFA issues challenge to Sobitha thero

The United People?s Freedom Alliance (UPFA) today?challenged the Chairman of the National Movement for a Just Society, Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero, to force the UNP to consume poison for allegedly stealing from the country.
UPFA member Dilan Perera said that the Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero had wanted those who steal from the country to take poison.
The Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero had reportedly made this comment when he signed an agreement to support the United National Front for Good Governance.
Perera said that the monk should now stand by his opinion and give the UNP poison for the alleged crimes they have committed towards the people of this country.
?They must be asked to take poison or you must resign,? Perera told the Venerable Maduluwawe Sobitha Thero yesterday.
Perera also accused the UNP of committing ?highway robbery? through the deals reached to construct new highways.
He also challenged UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe to take part in a debate with the UPFA on the highway deals. (Colombo Gazette)
