Former President Chandrika Kumaratunga met Ports and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga today and assured her support to the United National Front for Good Governance (UNFGG).
Ranatunga said that?Kumaratunga had said that she will ensure the country continues on the path to good governance.
He said that at the meeting he had with her today, they had discussed measures which need to be taken to ensure the UNFGG wins the August 17 election.
Ranatunga is contesting the election under the elephant symbol of the United National Party, which is a coalition partner in the UNFGG.
A former member of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP), Ranatunga lost his SLFP membership after deciding to back the UNFGG at the election. (Colombo Gazette)
