China is in talks with Sri Lanka on some new projects, Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe claimed during a rally held in support of the UNP for the Parliamentary election.
The Prime Minister said that a Chinese company has approached Sri Lanka and sought approval for?a ship rebuilding project in Hambantota.
He said that Ports and Shipping Minister Arjuna Ranatunga is having talks with the Chinese company with regards to the project.
The Prime Minister said that the Chinese are also involved in part of the construction work of the Colombo – Kandy highway.
He said that if the UNP is elected into power at the August 17 Parliament election, a UNP Government will be able to assure several new investments to the country by December this year. (Colombo Gazette)
