Passengers arrested at BIA with live plants

Two female passengers were arrested at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) this morning with live plants.

The customs department said that the two women, who had arrived from Bangkok. did not have valid permits to bring the plants into Sri Lanka.

Residents of Gampaha, the two women had in their possession 6 packages containing 540 plants, including fruit plants and ferns.

The customs department valued the plants at approximately Rs. 134, 850.00. (Colombo Gazette)
