The Department of Meteorology has issued a severe weather warning saying that due to the convergence of wind flows?showery weather with very heavy rain falls can be expected in the southwestern parts of the country.
It also said that strong southwesterly winds can be expected over the country and surrounding sea areas.
There will be cloudy skies with showers at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central provinces and Galle Matara districts. Heavy rain falls more than 150mm can be expected? in the Colombo ,Kalutara, Galle, Ratnapura and Kegalle districts.
Strong southwesterly winds with speeds about 80km /hr will occur over the country, especially over the western slope of the central hills and also sea areas around the country. (Colombo Gazette)
