Cold confirmed as cause of death of hundreds of cattle

Shock as a result of sudden cold weather has been confirmed as the cause of death of over 1000 cattle in the Northern and Eastern Provinces in Sri Lanka.? Ampara and Mannar Urban Councils to be upgraded

The Ampara and Mannar Urban Councils are to be upgraded following approval received by the Cabinet. Cabinet Spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena said that the Cabinet approved a proposal to upgrade the Ampara and Mannar Urban Councils to Municipal Council status. Students involved in assault on VC arrested

A group of university students involved in the assault on the former Vice Chancellor of the Peradeniya University, Professor Athula Senaratne, have been arrested. The Police said that 10 students were arrested while a number of others had been identified. The students were produced in court and remanded till 22 December.
