SLFP confident of winning WPC polls

prasanna_ranathunga1The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) today expressed confidence of securing enough votes to win the Western Provincial Council (WPC) elections.

Former Chief Minister of the Western Province, Prasanna Ranatunga, said that the most suitable candidates will be selected by the party to contest the polls.

He said that the nomination board of the SLFP met today to interview applicants seeking to contest the polls from the Western Province on behalf of the SLFP.

The SLFP nomination board for the Western Province is led by Minister Anura Priyadharshana Yapa and includes Prasanna Ranatunga and Shashindra Rajapaksa.

The SLFP nomination board for the Southern Provincial Council led by Minister Nimal Siripal de Silva also met today.

Among those interviewed by the two SLFP nomination boards today were Anarkali Akarsha, Geetha Kumarasinghe, Ginger and Gayesha Perera.

Elections for the Western Provincial Council and the Southern Provincial Council will be held in March. (Colombo Gazette)
