A statement by the Ministry of Health said that dengue in some areas is at an epidemic level and the public need to take precautions.
Operations to check for dengue mosquito breeding grounds in public places as well as schools, state institutions and other places in and around Dehiwala, Moratuwa, Kohuwala, Kaduwela, Kolonnawa, Angoda and Katubedda will be carried out tomorrow.
The Ministry of Health also said that anyone having fever for more than two days should take only paracetamol and not any other form of drugs purchased off the counter.
Separately, the Ministry of Health said that there is a rise in dengue spreading in the Colombo District.
The Ministry attributed the rise to dengue to breeding grounds found in areas where newly constructed buildings are coming up.
A special meeting in this regard and the immediate measures that need to be taken to address the issue was held last evening, the Health Ministry said. (Colombo Gazette)
