Soldiers suspended for rape

The government says four soldiers have been suspended from service by the army over rape allegations.
Quoting Military spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasuriya, the government said that the four soldiers had allegedly raped a woman in Horowpothana.
The police said that the four soldiers have already been arrested and investigations into the alleged rape was underway.
It was reported that the soldiers were attached to the Anuradhapura army camp and after raping the woman they had stolen some goods from the house.
The alleged rape had been reported last week and according to the victim her 14 year old son was tied before she was raped.
It was also reported that her husband is serving in the army and was away on duty at the time of the rape. (Colombo Gazette)
