Sri Lankan producing music in Stockholm

He started off as a DJ and then moved onto events management. Ayesh L Samaranayake is now well settled in Stockholm where he produces music, not only for the international market but for Sri Lanka as well.

Ayesh has been a DJ since he was just 14 years old and in 2009 he launched his own company, Inside Management Limited.

His company was an instant success and it went on to organise almost a dozen night life events in Colombo, among them were Baskin Robbins Ice Cream Fest at Tabu, Carte Blanhce at Club Silk and Mohombi live in concert in partnership with Club Silk

“In between in Colombo I met singers and producers, and had a handful of friends in the music industry. While I was keen to be a music producer I was occupied with Inside Management so I could not focus on anything more,” he said.

But soon all that was going to change. In 2012 Ayesh moved to Sweden where he met some talented local producers. DSC_0043

“Unlike back in Colombo I had much free time in Stockholm, where I thought I will give it a shot producing some music in my free time. By this time my most liked music genre was Electronic music,” he said.

Ayesh then went on to produce his first track called ‘House Twenty Twelve’ where he got some good feedback from friends.

The doors then opened for Ayesh to keep producing more music and after few months he produced a track named “srilankano” which was aired on Sri Lankan radio.

The track stayed for 6 weeks on the YES HOME GROWN TOP 15 Show on YES FM and he was told that it was the first time a track had been on the top for such a long time.

Some of the other tracks he has produced are ‘Just do that Tech’, ‘Naked Entity 2012’, ‘Phatt Elephant Bass (2013)’and ‘Cinema Fusion’.

While continuing to produce music Ayesh says he hopes to spin discs at a few places in Stockholm in the near future.
