Army frees more land

02 Aug, 2013

The army today released more land in Jaffna and returned them to the original owners.
Army spokesman Brigadier Ruwan Wanigasooriya said that over 77 houses and approximately 25 acres of land were released in Jaffna today.
This was done after relocating the Military camps formerly located in those premises to the Palaly Cantonment.
The camps were located in Achelu, Uralu, Achchuveli, Colombuthurai, and Ariyalai areas of the Walikamam sector in the Jaffna peninsula.
The Security Forces Commander of Jaffna handed over the lands and houses through Minister Douglas Devenanda to the respective Divisional Secretaries who in turn will hand over the lands and houses to the original owners after verifying the legal documents. (Colombo Gazette)
