Notice issued on Shirani

Former Chief Justice Shirani Banadaranayake has been given notice to appear in Court over bribery allegations.
The Colombo Magistrates Court issued the notice on?Banadaranayake to appear in Court on September 16.
The impeached Chief Justice had made several appearances before the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption?this year.
Lawyers appearing on behalf of Bandaranayake had on July 16 raised concerns over two commissioners investigating bribery allegations against her.
The lawyers had said that the two commissioners were biased.?Her lawyers also questioned the commission as to who had filed the allegations against her for investigations to be launched.
Details regarding her assets had been produced to the Commission claiming it was beyond the means of an ordinary public servant. (Colombo Gazette)

Tamil Nadu Police criminal branch to probe Angoda Lokka’s death

The Crime Branch CID (CB-CID) of Tamil Nadu police on Monday took over the investigation into the recent death of suspected Sri Lankan fugitive gangster Maddumage Lasantha Chandana Perera alias Angoda Lokka in Coimbatore.
