The Ministry of Health says there is no arsenic or cadmium in imported sugar.
A Health Ministry statement said that tests were carried out on imported sugar following claims that some of it contains arsenic and cadmium.
The Health Ministry said that tests were carried out on 71 kilos of imported sugar samples.
The results of the tests carried out on 24 samples returned negative for arsenic and cadmium.
According to the Health Ministry, the tests were carried out on sugar samples from Brazil, India Pakistan and Thailand. (Colombo Gazette)
