Chandran wins Madrid awards

Sri Lankan film Director Chandran Rutnam and his film ?A Common Man? won big at the Madrid Film International Festival.
An elated Rutnam told the Colombo Gazette that his movie won best Director, best actor and best film at the film festival last night.
A Common Man was nominated in four categories, namely Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor.
Rutnam, who is currently shooting his new film in Sri Lanka was not at hand to collect the award.?The movie stars Hollywood actor Sir Ben Kingsley.
The Madrid International Film Festival?has, as its objective, the promotion of cinematographic art by presenting films of quality and entertainment.
The Madrid International Film Festival is an annual event based in the city of Madrid in Spain, and draws in thousands of people from around the world.
A Common Man was produced by Manohan Nanayakkara and Chandran Rutnam.
The film?was shot in Sri Lanka and has already won a bronze medal at the?New York Festivals? International Television and Film Awards.?(Colombo Gazette)
