Windy conditions to continue

Windy conditions are expected to continue over Sri Lanka and neighboring sea areas, the Department of Meteorology said this afternoon.
The department said that showers will occur at times in the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces and in the Puttalam and Kurunegala districts.
Heavy showers (around 100mm) are also expected at some places.?Southwestern monsoonal winds will be strengthen at times over the island and especially along the western slopes of central hills.
The Department of Meteorology also said that there will be showers or thundershowers at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Hambantota via Galle. Showers at several places can be expected in other sea areas around the island.
Winds will be Southwesterly direction and speeds will be 40 – 50 km/hr. The speed may increase up to 60-70kmph at times in the sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Colombo and Galle as well as the sea areas off the coast extending from Jaffna to Trincomalee.
The sea areas off the coast extending from Mannar to Pottuvil via Galle as well as the sea areas off the coast extending from Jaffna to Trincomalee will be rough.
Naval and fishing communities have been requested to?refrain from their activities?in the?deep and shallow sea areas?off the coast extending from Mannar to?Pottuvil via Colombo and?Galle. (Colombo Gazette)
