Dengue kills Colombo uni student

A law faculty student of the Colombo university died this morning from dengue.

The student was among those admitted to the Colombo national hospital yesterday.

The female student was in a serious condition and she died this morning, a hospital spokeswoman told the Colombo Gazette.

It was reported yesterday that the Colombo Municipal Council had informed the Vice Chancellor of the Colombo university to temporarily close down the law faculty after discovering dengue larvae at the premises.

The Chief Medical Officer of the CMC Dr. Pradeep Kariyawasam had told a private television station that following investigations carried out on Monday, dengue larvae was discovered at the location.
He added that four students of the law faculty were suffering from dengue. (Colombo Gazette)
