The Gangodawila Magistrate today imposed a Rs. 5000 fine on 40 householders in the Kohuwala area after the police charged them with having dengue mosquito breeding grounds, the police media unit said today.
The police said that a special search operation for dengue mosquito grounds was carried out on 1560 houses in the Kohuwala area.
Police officers attached to the Mount Lavinia police and health officers of the Mount Lavinia Municipal Council were involved in the operation.
Those found as having dengue mosquito breeding grounds were produced in court today and fined.
The police also warned 42 householders in the area saying their environments could help dengue mosquitoes breed if not cleaned.
The 42 householders were given 3 days to clean the area. (Colombo Gazette)
