Namal Kumara ordered to be further remanded

Anti-Corruption Force Operations Director Namal Kumara was today ordered to be further remanded. He had been remanded till today over the violence which erupted following the Easter Sunday attacks. The Hettipola Magistrate?s Court ordered that Namal Kumara be further remanded till 9 January. (Colombo Gazette)

Import levy on potatoes reduced

The Government has decided to reduce the import levy on potatoes from midnight tonight (25th) The Finance Ministry said that the import levy on potatoes has been reduced from Rs. 50 to Rs. 25 per kilogram. The cost of living sub-committee had decided on the price reduction at talks held with President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.
