Maldives, Lanka to strengthen police ties

Inspector General of Sri Lankan Police N. K. Illangakoon paid a courtesy call on Maldives President Dr Mohamed Waheed today, the Maldives Government said. The meeting was held this morning at the President?s Office.
At the meeting, the President and Illangakoon discussed ways of further strengthening the relations between the two countries, especially in the area of Police service.
Highlighting the political challenges faced by the Police, President commended the professionalism maintained by the Maldives Police in executing their duties.
President Waheed expressed his gratitude for the support and cooperation received, from the government of Sri Lanka towards strengthening the Maldives Police Service
Illangakoon reassured President Waheed of Sri Lanka?s continued support and cooperation to the Maldives in that area. (Colombo Gazette)
