Army to shift most camps to Palaly

The army will shift most of the camps in the Jaffna peninsula to Palaly, Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya said today.
He said that apart from three army camps which will remain owing to security reasons, the rest will be shifted to the Palaly army base.
The Army Commander said this after declaring open a new?restaurant operated by the army along the Southern Highway.
The Army media unit said that in conformity with the government?s ongoing tourism promotion drive the army saw its widely used leisure outlets across the country being given new exposure, facelift and modernization, bringing all of them recently under the brand name, ?L?ya Beach? (Wadduwa), ?L?ya Leisure? (Kukuleganga) and ?L?ya Safari? (Yala).
The opening of the seafood cafeteria today is one more attempt in the same direction, the army said.
