TNPF members arrested

Members of the Tamil National People’s Front (TNPF) were arrested in Mannar today while they were participating in an event to remember the?civilians?killed during the final stages of the war in the north.
TNPF leader Gajen Ponnambalam said that the police had given him an?assurance?the TNPF members will be released after statements are recorded from them.
He also said that the police had?visited?the TNPF office in Jaffna but no one was arrested there.
When contacted, police spokesman Budhika Siriwardena said that 9 people were arrested over a poster used at the event.
Events to remembers the?civilians?killed during the war was held in in many parts of the north today including Mannar, Jaffna and Vavuniya.

Potta Naufer dies after contracting coronavirus

Notorious criminal Potta Naufer has died after contracting the coronavirus. He was serving the death sentence in prison when he had contracted the virus. The Prisons Department said that Mohamed Niyaz Naufer alias Potta Naufer died while being treated for the virus. He wad been taken to the Karapitiya Teaching Hospital for an examination for a Kidney ailment recently and an antigen test confirmed that he was infected with the coronavirus. Investigation launched into Hikkaduwa incident

An investigation has been launched into the incident at the Hikkaduwa vaccination center, Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella said.
