Duminda regains his post

Parliamentarian Duminda Silva has been reappointed as the organizer for the Sri Lanka Freedom Party in the Kolonnawa electorate.
Minister Basil Rajapaksa was appointed as the SLFP organizer in the Kolonnawa electorate after the Mulleriyawa shooting incident in October 2011 in which Silva was seriously injured.
However now that Silva has recovered and is out on bail he has been given back the SLFP Kolonnawa organizer?s post.
Kolonnawa Urban Council Chairman Ravindra Udeshantha said that President Mahinda Rajapaksa spoke to him and instructed him to give Silva the backing he needs as he has now been reappointed as the SLFP organizer of the area.
Udeshantha added that no matter what opinions one may have in the party, if the President gives instructions then that is followed to the letter.
Duminda Silva?s Coordinating Secretary A. Hewavitharana confirmed that the MP had been given back the Kolonnawa post. He also said that a decision has not yet been taken as to when he will return to parliament.

Japanese Navy ship arrives in Sri Lanka on three day visit

A Japanese Navy ship arrived in Sri Lanka today on a three day visit, the Sri Lanka Navy said. The Japanese Navy ship “Ikazuchi” docked at the Port of Trincomalee today, commencing a 3-day official goodwill visit. The ship was accorded the traditional Naval welcome upon its arrival at the Eastern Port by the Sri Lanka Navy.
