Galle Bishop denies statement

The Bishop of Galle has denied making comments about the Bodu Bala Sena or calling the organisation ?Buddhist Taliban? operating in Sri Lanka.
“As reference to a news item appearing in certain Internet websites about a statement attributed?to his Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Raymond Kingsley Wickramasinghe, the Catholic Bishop of the?Diocese of Galle, about Bodhu Bala Sena, is not true and has no basis whatsoever.?As such, his Lordship vehemently denies such a statement,”?Rev.Fr. Michael Rajendram, a?Spokesperson for the Galle Bishop said.
The Fides Agency had earlier reported that Bishop Raymond Wickramasinghe, the Bishop of Galle, had raised concerns about the Bodu Bala Sena in a message sent to the agency.
However the Galle Bishop says his?reference was only on the importance of Peace and Harmony among Ethnic and Religious?communities in Sri Lanka, which is the need of the hour. (Colombo Gazette)
