Website claims Soosai committed suicide

An Indian website has claimed that LTTE Sea Tiger leader Soosai had?committed?suicide during the final stages of the war.
The website, Athirvu, says Soosai?swallowed a?cyanide capsule and also shot himself using his personal weapon near the beach between Mullivaikal and Nandikadal on May 17, 2009.
He had?committed?suicide after ?it?became?clear that senior LTTE leaders could not escape from the area as they were surrounded by the security forces.
The website also claimed that some 2000 civilians were used in an attempt to divert the attention of the?military?so that the LTTE leaders could escape.
However when it was found that troops were moving into the area the civilians were directed to move towards safety and he?committed?suicide, the website?quoted?eye witnesses as saying.
The Sea Tiger force was defeated in April 2009 and on May 18, 2009 the government announced that Soosai was killed when a rocket hit the armored-plated van he was travelling in.
Soosai was married to Sathvadevi and they had two children called Suresh and Madhi. ?During the final stages of the war Soosai’s wife and children fled and were captured by the security forces. (Colombo Gazette)
