Pepiliyana issue resolved, suspects freed

The management of the Fashion Bug warehouse in Pepiliyana and the?suspects?connected over the attack on the premises last week, decided to amicably resolve the issue today.
All 17 suspects including three monks were produced at the Gangodawila Magistrate Court today under tight police protection.
Both parties?eventually?came to a settlement and the 17 suspects were then set free.
Three Buddhist monks surrendered to the Mirihana police yesterday over the attack on the Fashion Bug warehouse in Pepiliyana last week.
A monk who was seen on television throwing stones towards a CCTV camera at the store during the mob attack last week, while police officers stood there doing nothing, had also surrendered.
In all 17 suspects were in custody over the attack and they were produced in court today. (Colombo Gazette)
