A leak had occurred at the Kollonawa oil pipeline this evening, a spokesman at the Kollonawa oil storage facility said.
Nishantha Jayawardena said that the leak had occurred on the pipeline transferring oil from a ship at the Colombo harbor to the Kollonawa oil storage terminal.
The leak had occurred at Papadam Watta when refined petrol was being transferred to the storage facility.
Jayawardena said that the transfer of oil from the harbor had been temporarily suspended till the leak was fixed.
He said that the authorities expect the leak to be fixed by tonight and the transfer of oil to resume soon. (Colombo Gazette)
