AG orders CID to file case on Duminda

The Attorney General (AG) has instructed the police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) to file a case?against MP Duminda Silva over the killing of former MP Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra.
According to the instructions issued by the AG, the CID has also been told to file cases against 12 others in relation to the case.
Presidential Advisor Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra was killed in the shooting incident in October 2011 and Silva was seen as one of the main suspects in the murder.
However the MP had reportedly told the CID when he was questioned in hospital in Singapore last year that he could not recollect the incident.
Silva had sustained serious head injuries after he was believed to have been shot by a bodyguard of Bharatha Lakshman Premachandra soon after Premachandra was shot.
Premachandra?s daughter Hirunika Premachandra has been seeking justice in court over her father?s killing and has been calling for the arrest of MP Silva. (Colombo Gazette)
