A visiting US State Department delegation has had key discussions with Economic Affairs Minister Basil Rajapaksa and External Affairs Minister G.L Peiris today, the External Affairs Ministry said.
An official at the Ministry told the Colombo Gazette that the meetings, one which was held in the morning and the other in the afternoon, touched on the progress on implementing the recommendations of the Lessons Learned and Reconciliation Commission (LRRC).
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State James Moore, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense Vikram Singh and Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Jane Zimmerman took part in the two meetings.
The meeting comes just two days after the delegation had told reporters in Colombo that the US will submit a procedural resolution on Sri Lanka at the UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva next month. (Colombo Gazette)
