Government says CHOGM not shifted

The government says there is no truth to?reports?that the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) has been shifted out of Sri Lanka.
Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs Karunatillake Amunugama said that such claims were baseless and are mere?rumors.
There were?reports?to the effect that CHOGM 2013?which?is scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka in November had been shifted to?Mauritius following concerns of a breakdown in democracy in Sri Lanka.
However Amunugama said that so far the?decision?to hold the summit in Sri Lanka has not changed. (Colombo Gazette)

Power cuts reduced to 2 hours and 20 minutes

The daily power cuts have been reduced to 2 hours and 20 minutes for the next few days. Accordingly, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) said that the power cuts will be limited to 02 hours and 20 minutes from 30th August to 02 September. The PUCSL has approved power cuts lasting 3 hours for today (Monday). The daily power cuts had been reduced to just one hour at night yesterday (Sunday). (Colombo Gazette)
