Government, UNP to boycott Court on PSC

The government and opposition United National Party (UNP) says it will not attend the court hearing into the Parliament Select Committee (PSC) on the impeachment of the Chief Justice scheduled for tomorrow.

UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake says the UNP had decided not to attend the hearing as they had earlier withdrawn from the PSC in protest.

The court of appeal had issued notice on the PSC members after a petition was filed against the proceedings.

The government also says it will skip the court hearing scheduled for tomorrow and speaker Chamal Rajapaksa has said he will also not attend the court hearing.

However the TNA and the JVP said they will attend court tomorrow.
