President Mahinda Rajapaksa said that Sri Lanka moves into the New Year as a country that has won the confidence of the people both at home and abroad.
He says the New Year will seek valuable work for the progress of democracy, equality among people and important aspects of development in Sri Lanka.
In his New Year Message, the President has expressed confidence that all communities will join in unity with the common purpose of success towards realising Sri Lanka’s future goals.
He has said that achievement of success in all the tasks before the country with determination, commitment and courage is his wish for our Motherland in the Year 2013.
Meanwhile Prime Minister D.M.Jayaratne has said in his New Year Message that the dawn of a fresh year provides a valuable opportunity to further entrench co-existence, prosperity and dignity of the motherland.
He says that as a nation, it should be Sri Lanka’s prime aim in the New Year to conquer expectations and goals that it has not been able to achieve so far.
Opposition leader Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe in his New Year message has said that it is his new year wish that Sri Lankans should get the courage and the strength to win over the challenges been faced by them.
