Sri Lanka ranked 79 in Corruption Perceptions Index

Sri Lanka has been ranked 79 among 176 countries?Corruption Perceptions Index of Transparency International.

The Corruption Perceptions Index ranks countries and territories based on how corrupt their public sector is perceived to be.

A country or territory?s score indicates the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of 0 – 100, where 0 means that a country is perceived as highly corrupt and 100 means it is perceived as very clean.

Sri Lanka has a score of 40 and is just ahead of China which is ranked 80 with a score of 39.

A country’s rank indicates its position relative to the other countries and territories included in the index. (Colombo Gazette)

Negombo prison jailor remanded

The Acting Negombo Magistrate today remanded Negombo prison Jailor Kalinga Kaluaggala till 29 July. Drug trafficking ring in Boralesgamuwa area busted

Six suspects involved in a drug trafficking ring covering Mirihana, Boralesgamuwa, and Horana were arrested today. The Police said the suspects were arrested in Boralesgamuwa with a stock of heroin and cash. Nearly 1 kg of heroin and Rs. 1 million in cash have been taken into custody by the Police.
