Wimal writes to MR on 13A

National Freedom Front (NFF) leader Wimal Weerawanse has written to President Mahinda Rajapaksa calling for a?referendum?on abolishing the 13th?Amendment.

In the letter sent today Weerawanse says by holding a?referendum the pulse of the people can be seen on the?13th?Amendment and if a majority support the views of his party calling for it to be abolished.

Wimal says his party is of the opinion the?13th?Amendment to the?constitution is not good for the country.

The 13th?Amendment mainly focuses on devolution of powers to the provinces, a move supported by India. (Colombo Gazette)
