Mayadunne second runner-up in Miss International contest

Sri Lanka’s Madusha Mayadunne was selected as the second runner-up in the Miss International final held in Japan today.

Miss Japan won the title while Finland was the first runner-up and Dominican Republic the third runner-up.

The Miss International Beauty Pageant prides itself on having contestants who serve as “Ambassadors of Peace and Beauty.” According to the history of the competition, contestants are expected to “show tenderness, benevolence, friendship, beauty, intelligence, ability to take action, and a great international sensibility.” The goal of the international beauty pageant is to, “promote world peace, goodwill, and understanding.”

The Top 15 were, Columbia, Brazil, Japan, Sri Lanka, Finland, Namibia, Venezuela, United Kingdom, USA, and Dominican Republic.
