Borella underpass closed, woman killed

A woman was killed after being hit by a bus while she was crossing the road at the Borella junction late this evening.

Witnesses said that the underpass at the Borella junction for pedestrians to cross was closed at the time and the woman had crossed the main road near the traffic lights where there is no zebra crossing.

A passenger bus had crashed into the woman when she was crossing the road killing her at the location.

Some people in the area said that the underpass at the Borella junction for pedestrians is closed at 8.30 every night and this has resulted in pedestrians being compelled to cross the road near the traffic lights risking their lives. (Colombo Gazette)
